A Visit to Jamaica - Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2011

John-Andrew here!!! Blogging from sunny Jamaica. Well actually its in the middle of the night, there is no sun right now but there will be tomorrow. Right now I hear crickets and I'm enjoying the gorgeous trade winds. The stars are out and shining and its nice to be home. We just had a great dinner and I'm going to jump into my bed very soon. So weird being in my childhood bedroom. This is the house I grew up in and the place where my imagination and creativity first took flight. Its just wild being back home. It always is. Its my origin and every time I come home I realize how much more I've changed and evolved into something that is completely what I imagined and also much more than I ever could have thought. I fantasized this life in my bedroom in Kingston, Jamaica. Of course not the survival job and the high price of monthly metro card tickets but for sure living and creating in New York City. That big city is so my home now. The people, the theaters, the energy, even the dubious smells at time, are my home now. So I am grateful. I'm grateful I get to be in this gorgeous place for the holidays. I'm grateful I get to hug my Mom and eat her cooking. I'm grateful for safe travel. I'm grateful for New York City. I'm grateful for Christmas. I'm grateful for my friends and collaborators. I'm grateful for all of you who might stumble on this mushy post.

I"m especially thankful for a group of gadabouts who make me laugh and who I get to make a fun little show with. So to Steven and Meghan and Lindsey and Adam and Jeremy and Jamie thank you. You are lovely wonderful darling talented sexy scintillating delicious human beings and I am grateful for you. Merry Christmas you guys. We begin again in January.

And for the rest of you. Yes its almost done and WSNY will be up for your enjoyment before the end of the year. We've learned so much putting this together and the one thing that heartens me. . .is that we still want to do it. It has been a huge education. And we are learning as we go and expanding our universe slowly but surely.

Merry Christmas Everyone. A prosperous 2011 to you all.

Lots of love,

John-Andrew Morrison

Performia Hits the Road!

On Thursday night the WSNY crew went to hear the fabulous Danielle Grabianowsky perform her Cabaret Show "The Girl With the Long Last Name" at The Metropolitan Room in Manhattan.

Danielle was gorgeous, charming, genuine, and sounded just AMAZING. Of course, we weren't just there to enjoy- we filmed the entire show and will be featuring her in our next episode! We can't give you any previews of her singing until the episode, BUT we can show you how lovely she looked!

Thanks to Danielle and The Metropolitan Room for letting Web Show New York have our very first "in the field" recording experience. Can't wait to share her fabulousness with you all!

A Figgy Update

Hey Friends!

Sorry things have been quiet on the WSNY front the past month- we've been super busy behind the scenes analyzing all the feedback from all of you guys on Episode 1. We are insanely lucky to have such smart people critiquing our show! Trust me when I say that we have read every single word and have taken every comment to heart as we continue on the journey of figuring out the way to make Web Show New York the best it can possibly be! There have been tears, laughs, deep philosophical discussions, sleepless nights, group hugs, group fights, and of course....figs.

Figs?

Yes- FIGS!
We've got an exciting week coming up- STEVEN IS COMING BACK *happy Jeremy dance*! I've missed him so much. Especially in Production Meetings where he likes to keep us laughing when we get too serious about boring "buisnessey-who-are-we" crap. We need a few "I oin't cares" in the mix!

I hope you are all having a fabulous summer and managed to not melt in last week's heat wave!

Much Love,

Lindsay

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN-ANDREW!!

John-Andrew I can't believe you're turning TWENTY-FIVE today. Absolutely amazing- I can't believe how time flies.

The Web Show New York family wanted to get you something incredibly special- but then we realized that we're already working with you for free so WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US?

Just kidding of course (except about the part where we didn't get you anything- so maybe I wasn't kidding?). WE LOVE YOU. Or at least I do. From the bottom of my heart I hope that this year is in all ways better than the last- of course I know it will be because you'll know me for the WHOLE YEAR- how lucky are you?

Seriously though (not so good at the sincerity thing)- Happy Birthday. Beyonce, take it away:

I LURVE New York

Hello WSNYers!!

Greetings!  I hear rumor that EPISODE 2 is on it's way - let's give that a John-Andrew WOOP WOOP!!

Summer is one of my favorite times to be in the city! There are so many fun things to do out doors.  This weekend brought two of my favorite New York things!

Pridefest
and
Movies in the Park

Pridefest is a march & festival in remembrance of the Stonewall Riots in 1969.  This year  my boyfriend & I marched with Broadway Impact. It was marvelous.
It was cool to see a whole ton of New Yorkers and Tourists get wrapped up in the celebration of the parade!
Here is my favorite photo from it:

My other favorite thing that pops up in New York during the summer is:  OUTDOOR MOVIES!!!
Last night I gathered with hundreds of others to sit out in the grass in Bryant Park (right behind the New York Public Library) to watch 'Carousel'.  It was a peaceful, wonderful experience and one of my favorite things to do here in New York!  I got to looking and thought I'd include some links to not only Bryant Park but other outdoor movies as well!

REMEMBER TO DANCE!!!

We need your Feedback!

Hey friends!

I survived my weekend in DC and am back in reality swimming in projects and day jobs and some fantastic tennis (Wimbledon!).

The WSNY team has sadly said a "see you later" to Steven- we're really going to miss him while he's in California! But LUCKILY we will all be seeing his crazy face often as we continue to release promos and episodes over the next month. (Be sure to stay tuned this week as we release more promos and gear up for the launch of Episode 2!)

If you have a chance please take a look back at Episode 1 and let us know your thoughts. You can comment here anonymously, or send us an e-mail: webshownewyork@gmail.com. Trust me, we aren't fishing for praise here- as we begin to move forward and plan future episodes it is so crucial that we get outside feedback- in some cases we are too close to our work to think objectively! We know that we have a long way to go and the comments and criticism we have gathered so far has been so incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance for taking a minute to tell us how you think we can improve Web Show New York with Steven and John Andrew! Please accept this virtual cookie as a token of our gratitude (the best thing about virtual cookies is that they're calorie free).

And please take a second to watch this and laugh (I could watch it on repeat, it gets me every time!)

California, here I come

When I was in eighth grade, our Chorus teacher, Mary Randazzo, had us to "All American Express." It was a medley of various songs that had states in the titles. And the one for California was:

California here I come/
Right back where I started from/
Where bowers of flowers bloom in the sun/
Each morning at dawning, birdies sing and everything/
A sun-kissed miss said, "Don't be late."/
That's why I can hardly wait./
Open up that golden gate/
California, here I come.

And I remember all of the words today. I could not tell you where my keys are at any given moment, but I remember that and many lines from Facts of Life episodes...

Tomorrow, I head off to Sacramento for a month. Don't worry, I will be blogging from there. Have you ceased worrying? Should I give you a moment?

Okay, while I am allowing you to adjust to the shock of a Steven-free NYC, I will just entertain myself by remembering that episode where Tootie has a dream that is narrated by Rod Serling in the Twilight Zone. They do a hybrid Twilight Zone/ And Then There Were None bit where one by one all of the girls are murdered (this is a dream, remember) And then in the end it is someone who you least expect who did the killing...And the fake Rod Serling keeps saying, "Tootie. I love to say Tootie." It's pretty amazing TV.

Ummmm...are you over the shock and dismay? Good b/c soon I will figure out how to post pictures to this and then I will be posting home made videos and pictures from life out in
California.

Keep watching the promos and episodes we are rolling out and send them to your friends on facebook!!!!

xoxo

Hello and finally I'm on this thing

Hello Everyone: So I am finally doing my first posting on our glorious blog here at Web Show new York. So I wanted to say hello to everyone and I hope you are enjoying our shenanigans thus far. I wanted to put up some photos I captured on my blackberry from our shoot day in Times Square. Above you will see the gorgeousness that is our make up artist extraordinaire. The fabulously beautiful Gillian Drace, ladies and gentlemen. Adore her good looks. She was giving us a little lesson in how to be fabulous on the pedestrian mall in Times Square. Looking good Ms. Drace. Looking real good. We did a quick shoot that day in Times Square. this was in anticipation of the lovely Mr. Strafford leaving us for the left coast for a month. It was a quick and dirty shoot. Literally, you will see the results of that shortly but lying down on the nasty street of Times Square with millions of tourists walking above you is commitment to your art. And thanks Steven for writing the segment to include us lying down on the ground. Thanks friend. That was great.

Also it just made me note the difference between the gay boys and the straights. So I know its a generalization but my gay black butt would not be balancing on any madness like Doyle was. doing that day. Crazy. But you know those straight boys the like to climb and jump and scale and build. The gays for the most part like to lounge and boogie and strut. Well I do know one or two gay boys with lesbian tendencies who know how to handle a drill. I'm concerned. But here is Doyle and ye ole New York City Police barricade balancing to get a shot. These boys are nuts.

Here's also a lovely shot of all three of them looking at the content to make sure everything is all tikitiboo.

So fine, I messed up the blog. I meant to have the pictures like scatted throughout the things but I don't know what I'm doing. I know Steven and Lindsay are right now reading this and throwing their hands up in the air. Ah well.

Happy Friday mi dears.

Till the nest time.

So little to do, So much time.....

Strike that. Reverse it. Thank you Gene Wilder for that one....

Hi! I am running around like a chicken without a head. I have been securing two subletters for my apartment. (Long and boring story) It looks like we have achieved success, but I am not counting my chickens until we have two checks for the landlord!!!

After going to California for a month, (I leave on Sunday) am moving out of the place I have lived in since February of 2009. I am moving into my own place. This a huge leap of faith for me. So fingers crossed...... I will begin my search for an apartment when I get home from doing my show in Sacramento.

In addition to all of that, I am finishing up my workshop production of the new musical, T.S. Eliot here in the city and trying to memorize my stuff for Spamalot , and I have to go up to Flushing to deal with a financial situation tomorrow morning as well as finish packing.

Chicken. No head.

Love and Bea Arthur to you all!!!!

Blog Updates!

Hey WSNYers!

Hope you are all doing well- it's almost FRIDAY!!! I'm going to DC this weekend to visit some friends so I'll be out of touch for a couple of days, but I wanted to alert you to a couple of updates on our blog-in-progress!

I have collected the bios of two more team members, Gillian Drace our makeup artist and photographer and Adam Romano our set designer/constructer (spellcheck is telling me that's not a word but I'm choosing to ignore it) and cameraman! You may have noticed that you are only allowed in the WSNY Family if you are multi-talented. We are a group that likes to wear many hats!

So please go over to our "Team!" tab to find out more about Gillian and Adam!

While you're looking around PLEASE do yourself a favor and go check out the new hysterical promos that I have posted. There are a couple that are about Episode 1, and one even up for Episode 2!!!! Gosh things sure are moving fast here in WSNY land, it's so exciting!

As always we welcome your feedback, and thank you so much for your support here in our toddler days.

Much love,
Lindsay

PS: Am I the only one switching back and forth between Game 7 and "Bethenney Getting Married?"?? I hope not, I'm having a BLAST.

Life After Tomorrow

Y'all...I am watching this documentary, "Life After Tomorrow." It follows what the experience of being an orphan in Annie, and then follows what happened to them afterwards. It is way intense. You can see it on the Ovation network.

Yesterday, we filmed some promo pieces following John-Andrew and I around NYC. It was a lot of fun!!!

My favorite thing is when people come up to ask us what we are doing. We tell them, and everyone seems so genuinely interested and hopeful for us.

New Yorkers are pretty great.

I have a show tonight. It is a new musical based on the life of T.S. Eliot. I play his big gay LOVAH!!!! I get to sing this super torchy song down center which delights me.

More soon......

Shooting Shenanigans

The WSNY team had a fantastic time yesterday evening running around Manhattan and shooting some new promos and segments to release over the coming weeks!

Of course, in true Web Show New York style, things got a bit....out of hand.

Our fearless Director Ed found himself in a- compromising position- as he proved his dedication to the project (or insanity, we're not sure which one yet) by lying on his back in the middle of Manhattan!

Of course, this did not amuse our beautiful Makeup Artist Gillian, who for some reason refused to join him. I do believe her exact quote was "I don't have enough hand sanitizer for this!"

Our daring DP (er..Director of Photography aka Cameraman with a Plan for you non-film/tv folks) Doyle found himself very high up in the bleachers! Of course, I was a tad more concerned about the safety of our very expensive camera.....

Meanwhile the Stars (divas) Steven and John-Andrew continued to be their fabulous (crazy) selves as they spread the WSNY gospel the only way they know how...through dance (at least I *think* that's what they're doing in this picture)!

Me? Well, I was doing what I do best of course....worrying about time! (Please pretend I'm actually wearing a watch in the photo, it makes a lot more sense that way.)

Anyways, despite (or maybe because of) the shenanigans we had a blast, and as always we can't wait to share what we've worked on with you! Maybe once you see the segments these photos will make a bit more sense. Then again...maybe not.

Talk to you soon!

A Note from Jeremy

Well well well

The TONY's have passed, albeit Thankfully.  I was very much hoping the lovely Maria Dizzia would be up there on the podium.  Keep working at it girl!  You'll get there for sure!

As for the REST of the program, well it's no wonder the viewership dropped from last year. The musical numbers were not exciting.  Am I the only one who feels that Hollywood is taking over NY's beloved Broadway?

Other than that I had a very restful weekend on Fire Island, though I hear through the grapevine we've got some more exciting segments taped and coming.  Get ready folks!!

Remember to Dance!

TONY TIME

Hi Everyone!!! Watching the TONY's. Can't wait to see Ms. Dizzia rock it out. On the WSNY front, I was honored to get to go see our own Jeremy Ritz in "One Hand Clapping," downtown. He was hilariously funny playing a nerdy tree. Ah, the work we do as actors!!!!

Now, to sit down and enjoy the rest of the Creative Arts Tony's!!!!!

-Steven

Watch Maria Dizzia on The Tonys Tonight!

Hey WSNYers! We hope you will all be tuning into The Tonys tonight to root for Maria Dizzia. Maria is nominated in the Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play category for her role in In the Next Room or the vibrator play.

Maria was on our very first episode of Web Show New York with Steven and John-Andrew and she could not have been a more gracious, funny, or charming guest (and we're not just saying that because we're hoping for a thanks in the acceptance speech).

Good luck Maria, we are all rooting for you on your big night!!!!

Welcome

Hello friends!

Thank you so much for visiting the Web Show New York blog. As you can see, we are very much a work in progress right now (but really, who isn't?) but we are all so excited to share what we have been working on with you. The most exciting part of this project is that it is ongoing, so your feedback REALLY matters.

So take a look around at all of our sites, have a laugh (with us, at us, whichever you choose!) and of course- be sure to join Jeremy in a dance:
